What is the matter with it? Typically, all that is needed is a new spring. But if you are changing to a fancy one, it is easy to do. Just put the bike on some blocks or something that will keep it upright while you take off the stand.
BTW, good idea to get yourself the HD Factory Service manual covering your model and year.
