Replacing ECM with points.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their ECM with points? I think my ECM is bad and instead of 225 bucks I am thinking of going to an after market mechanical points system. This is on an 81 FX. Anyone have good advice on this for me? Thanks

Welcome to The Forum, It can be done, H D early V1 electronic ignition IMO was poor at best, having changed a lot of them back to points I used Blue Streak points from Napa,( 6 cyl chevy points and condenser) set up

As Jack said,you have to change the coil too
