removing adhesive

i am going to try to remove the circular cover on the steering-lock (the circular piece that says "Lock" & "Unlock" on the steering column of my '09 RKC).
i have a clock (Marlin's) that i want to put there which flips up, allowing access to the locking mechanism for the key.
does anyone know the best way to remove that piece?
i assume it is glued on. right?
is this something that can be heated with a blow-dryer and then removed with, say, fishing line?
any ideas?

much appreciated.
thanks.

The pre-09’s are friction fit in place, you just have to pry out. Assume yours is the same?

thanks, guys.
so maybe a little goo-gone, let it soak, and then try to scrape it out with some fishing line?
what does friction fit mean?

cheers.

Means it is a seperate plate, pressed tightly into the recessed area and held in place by friction
