rear pegs

I have a ? Working on a 97 dyna wide glide the guy who owns it went to harley for the setup for rear pegs on the right is a crome peg that bolds to the frame that looks good on the left theres a plate that bolts to the frame that looks like you would bolt your peg to but it looks to far in does a peg go before the footpeg, jel

Just went out to the shed to check my 94 Dyna left side foot peg is fitted directly to the bracket
and by doing a comparison against the throw over bags the right side foot peg is a good couple of inches further out from the frame than the left side
never noticed that before but pillion seats of our bikes don't get used much

Just a guess, but could it have something to do with the exhaust?
Like it needs to be out farther so as to not burn your foot?

Read parts list setup seems to be correct as per parts list
on a return to shed it does throw the right foot out past the exhaust
it'll save a lot of effort from trying to remove the remnants of the wifes heel from the muffler
been there was a BMW with stainless exhaust cheep plastic melted to it didn't have a pleasing look to it
