Rear Cylinder Not Running

I have never heard or seen of a valve guide dropping, going back up in place and then dropping again.

Very Good info Tom. It has never happen to me but I have heard that if the heads get much over 350*F for a good length of time, the valve guides will get loose.

Don't know if it applies to your case, but that's just what I have heard from people that have been there before.

The valve guides are an interference fit meaning once pressed in they should not move, the clip would take the place of a bottoming shoulder IMO, tho I would be concerned as to why the guide floated in the first place, and did the valve ever come in contact with the piston. I would take those heads off and have them BOTH over sized with perhaps Kibblewhites valve guides JMO
