rear brake light

I have a problem with my brake light not coming on. I replaced the stop switch and have power going to it but no light. The bulb is good but I took a paper clip and tried to bypass the stop switch which should put the light on steady but this didn't work either. I'm completly out of ideas, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Sounds like a break in the wire from the switch to the brake lamp bulb.

Oversized rear tire is a possible cause.

Check under the fender above the tire to see if the wires are rubbed.

Also, if the wires look good, check the socket ground. Check the wires with a DVOM for opens.

With the paper clip in as a jumper probe the wires in short increments back to the light with a DV meter or test light til you find the break in the wiring

Had similar problem. My larger rear tire had rubbed through the wiring in the fender and was causing a short with the fender. Had to remove the wheel to fix.
