Reach Seat

Has anyone had problems installing the reach seat? I have a 2007 nightster and am having difficulties getting the seat installed correctly. It seems I am about 3/4 incehes too short of getting it on the seat pole (unsure if that is the correct name). It seems that I have received the correct seat, all the numbers match as to the seat fitting my bike. Looking for any help, or suggestions.

Not sure if this applies to your bike or not but I have seen where it takes the purchase of a separate bracket to make the seat fit properly.

Here is one example from the HD website.

" XL883N, XL1200N and XL1200X models also require separate purchase of Retention Washer P/N 7487." This is from the Reduced Reach Seat # 51737-07.
