Do rain socks significantly decrease the performance of an engine? Has anyone seen or have a link to a site that has compared with and without?

I asked that question at HD dealer. They said No different... I am curious what others to say about that... :dknow

I have the SE Ventilator intake and have ridden with the sock on anticipating rain and could not tell the difference, same power and performance.

I've got a Heavy Breather and keep the rain sock on all the time. on the few times it's been off I didn't notice any difference in performance.

A rain sock will richen up the A/F mix and mileage might drop a bit but the butt dyno won't register the change.

I can tell you that the rain water coming off a Road King front tire. When it comes in contact with a heavy breather on a Softail without a rain sock makes it die! Not sure about the rest......:D
