Radio problems 1999 Road glide...

Hello,
I'm a newbe to HDtalking....
Heres what is happening... I purchased a salvage bike, the radio was smashed. I purchased a cassette radio on Ebay for $125 buy it now.
I installed the radio.. what I'm getting is no sound from the speakers, I get a static sound, which gets louder as the volume goes up... I'm thinking the Radio is O.K... It locks on radio stations that are close to me.. The radio that was on the bike had the factory CB/intercom stuff. the replacement " Ebay "
radio doesn't... Any ideas...

The first thing I would do is check the antenna system: Make sure it's plugged in to the radio properly, inspect the connector for damage, make sure the antenna cable isn't cut, inspect the cable where it connects to the antenna.

I should have mentioned that the static is also present when I throw in a cassette
still no sound other than static.....
My local HD dealer will not answer my questions... they tell me to "bring it in for service"
