Om my 08 SG it said to remove the tank. I did not and I found that there are 2 allen head screws that hold the bracket on that is no longer used. With a little persistence I was able to get to the screw heads.
That being said...I believe removing the tank is a good thing for anyone to know that plans on doing any wrenching of their own. I pulled mine to install the TFI and I'm glad I did.
