Question about passengers

I tend to hold the bike upright with the motor running and let the passenger get on the back as best as they can. Because of the sissy bar they have to squeeze between my back and the bar.
My main concern is that they mount from the left to avoid the exhaust as the bike is often already hot from a previous run (A lesson learned at my daughter's cost.)
Once they are sitting comfortably with both feet on the pegs, I'm off.
