Primary Gaskets

Ok, I am getting ready to install an automatic chain tensioner in my 03 Heritage and trying to get everything together for the job. My question is, what is the purpose of the two small gaskets ( #63859-95a) on the inside of the primary, shown in the break down drawing, of the manual? I have never opened the primary case so I do not know what stuff looks like yet.

Installing the HB125 tensioner.

Thanks

The 63859-95a is the primary inspection cover gasket.

Maybe this will help...

Are you talking about Item 52? If you are they are for the two longer screws for the inspection cover which are thru holes.

Glider, in the pic of the drawing you posted, item #52 is what I am asking about.
The numbers are not the same in the 03 parts manual I have. The inspection cover is shown as part # 60567-90b, item 23 in my book.

Slow post by me. That answers it vtbikers. Thanks

I checked a few downloaded manuals for a 2003 bike.

Item 52 is referred to as TOWER GASKETS and there are 2 of them .

I have no idea what they are for but they are real.

Anyone else ??

That's what they are. If you look in the inner primary portion of that diagram, you'll see two extended towers in the center of the part. Those seals seal the primary oil from leaking through them and out the back of the cover.
