PL. Help 2003 sporty 1200 spit sputterd died, charged battery, ran good for 3 miles died?

Not positive what it is yet, but with your peoples help I am on the right track.

I should replace both, she is getting old, but low miles 15,000 thank you!!!

A while back I did this on my shovel with electronic ign. I did it in the garage as dbmg stated with a hot air blower. After a min. or 2 it would start to miss out then I would grab my air blower from compressor and cool
it down. A min. or 2 later it ran fine again. Did that 2-3 times.
What gave me the idea was it started acting up 15-20 mi. from home and I left the cover off the nose cone after a visual check. The wind kept it cool enough to get home.
