Hiya all, this will prob be only answered by uk riders (forgive me if im wrong)anyway,do you guys no if the old black with white lettering style numberplates are legal, obviously if its a classic vehicle they are but just wondered, seen a couple which look really smart but never got chance to talk to owner to see what the local boys in blue think, cheers fellas, and lasses.

If you have a pre 1973 bike you may use the black plate. This is a quote from DVLA
Traditional plates for vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973
Vehicles constructed before 1.1.1973 may display traditional style “black and white”
plates i.e. white, silver or grey characters on a black plate.
The only way around this would be to buy an old registration from DVLA which I may do myself. This probably is still open to breaking the law because it says vehicles constructed before 1973. I have a 1966 Lambretta with the plate ADY 62D but I'm not allowed to transfer it !

Good info pete, plod got nowt better to do up this end so i suppose i'll have to give it a miss, shame i do think they look smart, especially on the old style HD,catch ye later pete.
