i have the 08' ultra and have been told that the same type oil goes into the engine, final, and trasmission. some of the stuff i've been reading doesn't say that. SO, what type should i use in each area?

Wow - the million dollar question that's been answered almost as many times! Search function of this site would've given you hours of good reading but we'll save you the time.

Motor - any good quality full synthetic - Mobil One V Twin and Spectro are very popular choices

Primary - HD Syn 3 or the equivalent is fine

Transmission - a gear lube designed specifically for gears like Spectro, Redline, etc. Do NOT pour more of the same stuff you used in the motor and primary into your transmission.
