oil vent from fill cap

my 01 fatboy sat for about 4 months while i transfered duty stations and
also changed out the starter due to an earlier problme. then
started her up; about 2 mins later the was about a quart of oil
pooled under the bike. tracing it back looks like it all came from the
fill cap. could be high oil pressure? clogged vent line? or even a
bad seal on the fill cap(non screw type). any one had this happen to
them? any direction on this problem would be very helpful.
thanks

Don't know about the 01 but my 94FLSTC has a check valve (spring and ball) if the valve is not seated oil can bypass and sit in the bottom of the engine. When started the oil will "sump" as the pressure in the bottom forces it back thru the system. Did you find the oil to be low in the oil tank?

Sometimes when some models of hd sit for a long time oil can leak from the oil tank into the crankcase past the check valve after starting the excess oil in the crankcase can be force out the crankcase breather which would have it coming out of your air filter
that is where i would be looking at in a situation like yours
