Oil Tank Overflowing!

It's basically a problem with a gravity feed situation when the valve doesn't close properly and the oil seeks the lowest level in the engine.

Think I got it now, this really applies to bikes with oil tanks above the crank rather than below the trans. right?

You got it now:D

Harleys use "Dry sump" oiling, meaning the sump (pan) does not store the oil like most automobiles...it stores it in the oil tank above and only if the one way valve leaks will gravity "leakdown" and fill the sump. If the owner see the oil is low he then puts more in and all of it goes down by gravity too. Surprised that the engine would even turn over when flooded with that much oil...HD makes a pretty good starter...:s
