maybe the previous owner installed a stiffer oil relief spring, or streached the old one.

Greater than 35 running hot. Slightly above 0 idling hot. I think the gauge is accurate enough, as long as the oil light stays off.

This is exactly what my 08 electra glide reads and I've ran M1 20w50 in my bike since new now have 30k on her.

32 to 38 hot at speed and 5 to 8 idle consistent.

My first thought would be previous ower used a different grade/weight/brand of oil than you are using.
