2001 Classic has small oil leak at transmission shifter shaft. Is there an oil seal on the shaft? I have shop manual for 2000 and this does not show one.

How did you determine that your leak was from the shifter shaft seal? The reason I ask is that I has a stubborn oil problem that I suspected was the shifter shaft seal. Finally figured out that the oil I was getting between the inner primary cover and the tranny was the misting from the vent tubing. I rerouted the vent with a new hose across the tranny behind the starter and down next to the small vent tubing on the right side of the bike. Oil problem on the left side solved!!
Check out that possibility if you have one of the short "J" tube vents.
