Oil Leak - Inner Primary cover -2000 Classic

My buddy's 2000 Heritage Classic has developed a minor oil leak from the inner primary behind the clutch area. Is a big job to fix? Suspect its a gasket problem. I know we'll need some gaskets and probably special tools to remove the clutch - any suggestions or tips?

Before you do all that, is there a small "j" shape black tubing on a nipple that comes out of the tranny top cover? This is the tranny vent if he has one like this. Mine was spraying a fine mist of tranny fluid on the back of the inner primary that made me think there was a leak in the primary. It would take a few days to a week after thoroughly cleaning the bike for the drip/leak to show up. After going through ALL that trouble that you're talking about doing, I finally figured out it was just the vent tube!!! Very frustrating. To fix it, I got a couple of feet of black tubing from the auto parts store and routed it back over the starter to the other side of the tranny and down towards the ground. Here are some pictures:
