Before doing anything, check to see if you have 12 volts (in relation to frame ground) at the White wire at the ignition coil with key and kill switch ON and ready to go.
Regardless of anything else, you must have power at that point.

Do you have power coming out of the wire from the bone to the coil?

Hi rgb; I have a '92 and the starter won't do anything with the handlebar switch off. The only thing in the nose cone is the electronic trigger for the ign. If you haven't been in there, it's unlikely (but possible) the problem is there.
Give us some background information. When was the last time it was running, what was the last thing you did to it, did you just get it or put it together?

Do you have power coming out of the wire from the bone to the coil?

Typo power wire from the cone is the power from the pick up assembly to the coil, if there is no power it will not fire

My problem Just like Yours,,, turned out to be the Gissmo by the oil filter... One allen headed bolt holds it into the position... called CRANK SENSOR... It is a magnet that times off the crank... If it goes bad it will NOT allow it to start Just LIKE A BAD COIL... NOTHING there.... Now I'm not suggesting to buy a new one.,,,, 120$ or so. Just check it out...
