no oil returning to oil tank

Installed new cam support plate, oil pump and associated o rings. Started engine, oil pressure was good. Then it started falling shut engine down, checked oil level in tank and it was barely any showing on dip stick.The oil isn't being scavenged out of the crank case or cam compartment. Anyone out there had a similar problem and what did you do to fix it? I've take everything back apart to check if something broke or was not installed correctly but everything appears to be right.
 
if everything work right before you took it a part , then its gotta be in your re assemgly .you may not have the oil pump georotors installed right , they do have a scavange and discharge side . i know thats not much help but maybe it'll get you going in the right direction

Typical problem like this will usually be found with the removal of the cam cover and the oil that comes out of the engine there that's missing in the tank. The problem usually is the "O" rings on the cam support plate not being installed properly or pinched/broken.
 
In addition to what he ^^^ said pinching/forgetting the oil pump/case connection o-ring will have similar results.
