night train gas leakage problem

my husband filled his n. t. and gas was leaking, well more like a stream of gas in front of the back tire, second time this happened, he didnt notice and of course the back tire fishtailed and he almost dumped it, lasted for appox 5 min, anyone else have this happen? is there an overflow on these bikes?

Check the Gas cap itself, it may not be venting properly. Also the self help section will have some ideas...

thanks so much, sounds like this is not too out of sorts then, they do have an overflow in front of the back tire, or could it be where it just falls from the overflow..............very dangerous hey!!

There are 2-pressure relief items relating to the Gas tank. The first is the vent in the Cap, which should only vent vapors...if that one gets stuck then the 2nd is the vent hose, set at higher pressure (a Failsafe).. this one will bleed off gas itself.Especially if the tank is close to Full. Being the bikes are so narrow there's not much of a place the bleed to that doesn't get on the tires... Address this ASAP because of the problem you mentioned...almost dumping the bike.

thanks will let him know, just about dumped because of the gas leaking in front of the back tire making it slippery, thanks again, have a great day!!

Also check and make sure the gas tank/gasket seal area is free of overspray paint and such...several riders have had sealing problem caused by this as well.
