Greetings from Austin, TX where SXSW is getting ready to turn the city into a zoo.
I’ve been researching/looking at bikes ever since my near fatal heart attack and triple bypass and came up with the following requirements in a bike.
Standard or Cruiser
V twin or parallel twin
Maybe triple?
Prefer fuel injection
Hydraulic valves
Windshield*
Saddle bags*
Crash bars*
Highway pegs
Floor boards
Not black
Brand preference in order
1. BMW/Triumph/Victory/
1. Guzzi/Indian
2. Honda/Yamaha/
2. Kawasaki/Suzuki
3. Harley/Royal Enfield
After visiting all the dealers in the area several times each I went and took the basic safety course and got my license. I figured I’d start my test rides with my tier 3 (least likely to buy) bikes.
I rode the FXST/I first, then a XL1200C.
Riding the FXST/I was like seeing the sun for the first time. I finally “got it”. to heck with those other brands. Took that bad boy home.
2006 FXST/I (soft tail standard)
Every piece of chrome that was available
