neg post sparking

my org battery finaly bit the dust so I just went to take it out and while I was taking the neg bolt off it would spark. I just didnt know if this was normal or not. it was very weak and I got it out ok but was kind of worried about what might happen when I go to put the new :hot" battery in..

Sometimes it is just the filter caps in the modules charging up which is nothing to worry about.

If you had removed the cable once again and then re-hooked it and there was ANOTHER spark, then I would check for parasitic drain using an amp-meter..
