Navy- Help With Fuel Issue

I have a question regarding fuel issue. I start the bike, it runs briefly and then quits. After it quits it won't start again until I leave it set for a couple of hours. This happens repeatedly. I'm thinking it maybe the fuel filter. I've added SeaFoam to the fuel, but it doesn't seem to run long enough to do much good. I fired it up this spring and it ran fine. I only put about 25 miles and then it sat for a month (lousy weather). Any suggestion would be appreciated?!

Based on your description of having to let it sit before it will restart, I would suspect it may be flooding. Pull a plug and see if they are black. How old is the fuel? Draining tank and starting with fresh fuel would be a good idea.

I have edited the heading of this thread so it is a bit more clear. :s

Vacuum operated petcock? Check the hose for restriction or collapse, drop the petcock out and check the strainer
