Motorcycle Adventure To California

PRU7536, it's a shame that the Wheels Through Time Museum was closed. It has a fantastic collection of Harleys. I enjoyed seeing all of them even before I had a Harley. Since I live in California, I was hoping they would go through with their move to Arizona. I guess I will just have to make time to go back to Maggie Valley. Ride Safely.

Pru; i understand being tired early in the day. It will take you a few days to settle into your new routine. Please remember to hydrate a LOT more than you think you need. The wind takes a lot of moisture out of you.
When you get on a nice straight section of road, take a close look in your mirror,,,, way back,,, that's us following you. Now, pay attention to what's in front of you!:p

Ok.... Maddog I am now tracking your ride and its killing me that I didn't get to take the ride with you. Ride safe and enjoy!

Motorcycle Adventure, Day 3

I woke up every 30 minutes last night and got up at 0500. Somehow I am not as tired today as I was yesterday. I repacked the bike and headed out at 0630. I headed to Robbinsville, NC and got breakfast and topped off the gas tank. Then it was on to the Cherohala Skyway. It was well worth the trip as the scenery was excellent. It was a long day and by noon, the leather jacket had to come off and I traded it for a cooling vest. 365 miles today which is nothing to brag about, but it is a lot more than I have done the last couple of days. I cut a pretty good swath through TN and holed up for the night at the south side of Clarksville. Hopefully I can catch up with Retired Jake before I make more dust. Breeze, I appreciate the advice regarding water. I am force feeding myself in order to stave off dehydration, but you are correct about the loss of water due to wind. That is why I try and wear a jacket, but it was unbearably hot today after noon. The cooling vest works great; the missus bought it for me a few years ago, but I have never worn it prior to this trip. Sure am glad I stumbled on it before I left because I sure wasn't looking for it.

Here's a Harley shop I saw in Cherokee, NC. I had the whole road to myself.

I made a new friend; Bob from Pensylvania. He's a professional musician who I found practicing at the first overlook on the skyway. He was looking at the sun come up over the mountains.

This is what Bob was looking at.

Unfortunately, photos don't do the scenery justice.

A Harley botique at the end of the skyway.

Great picts of the Smokies...glad you made it thru Nashville traffic...a real nightmare. Hope the Natchez Trace will be just as scenic.

Hey Pru, Glad you're having such a good start to the trip. Knowing you were riding through the Smokies, a friend and I struck out and rode a part of the BRP I haven't been on in years. Posted the pics on FB.

Pru,

I have a good size US map on my office wall and I put a push pin on it representing you so I can see your progress. Wish I had thought of it with jaceddie. Have a nice Memorial Day weekend, thank you (et al) for your service, be safe, looking forward to following you from home until Tuesday morning!
