Motorcycle Adventure, 2012

Anyone heard from Mike (pru) ? Nothing has been posted since the 6th on here or Facebook from him. He's always been good about posting daily, just concerned!

Tommie2tone, good observation on your part. I have done a pitiful job of documenting the trip. All is well though. I just checked into a motel with wi-fi in Winnemucca, NV. I started out at 0500 and quit 410 miles later around 1400. I about froze this morning, now it's pretty nice out. I have been beating myself with too many miles, which gives little recovery time and I have stayed with some friends along the way with no internet access. I will try and do better a little later today, but the first priority is some golden throat dust remover. They're a little warm out of the hard bags, but I don't have the energy to put 'em on ice right now.

I was wondering about you also. I know your having a great time. I may have asked but forgot. But what's your destination. Or turn around point. Keep us posted and take lots of pic's.. if you come back thru CLARKSVILLE .give me a call again and ill fix you up with some more chow..Tom..

Day 5, June 6, 2012, Wednesday

A beautiful morning in Loveland, CO. I headed west through the town of Estes Park. It is a beautiful, clean place. I pulled off the side of the road to take a picture of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. After a ride through Thompson Canyon I arrived at the park entrance. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but the views were spectacular and the weather absolutely perfect. I headed for Steamboat Springs to spend the night and only rode 183 miles today, 2138 thus far. I am scaling back the scope of the adventure in order to enjoy the ride instead of participate in and endurance event.

Day 6, June7, 2012, Thursday

When I woke up this morning in Steamboat Springs it was downright chilly. I took my time loading the bike and pulled out the jacket liner, sweatshirt, chaps and heavy gloves. After some morning coffee I headed west on Hwy 40 to visit an old Marine Corps buddy in Vernal, Utah. Another easy, but beautiful riding day. Very little traffic, clear skies and vast expanses of scenery. I arrived at his house at exactly noon and I was done riding for the day. I invited him and his wife to lunch and we caught up on things as I hadn’t seen him since I rode my deuce out this way in 2006. For the afternoons adventure he took me to see some petroglyphs carved into the local mountains. The scenery in Utah is something that has to be seen to be appreciated; pictures do not do it justice. I had planned on leaving in the morning, but he invited me to stay for a day and as I had scaled back on the adventure, I took him up on his offer. The first four days of the adventure were pretty grueling, but the past two days have more than made up for it.

Day 7, June 8, 2012, Friday

After breakfast we headed toward Salt Lake City to meet my buddy’s daughter who was bringing his grandson to stay with him while out of school. That ate up most of the day, but we had a little time and he took me up into the Ashley National Forest on the Red Cloud Loop Road. The scenery is amazing and looks just like it did when he took me up there in 1975

Day 8, June 9, 2012, Saturday

On the road early again westbound for Salt Lake City. The winds picked up again and made for some rough riding. Lots of traffic around Salt Lake City, but fortunately I was able to take the main roads that skirted most of it. By early afternoon I found where I was going and had a nice relaxing evening with my old work buddy and his two little grand daughters.

I can't find a few pictures I was looking for. I'll take another whack at it when I get home.
