i keep reading about how people cut the mid control shift shaft to remove it but my questain is whats keeping the shift shaft from coming out after taking the linkage off? is there a clip or nut? and theres a plug for the hole thats in the back where the linkage was can the be put in from the back of the primary or do i need to take off the outer primary still to put that plug in :small3d028:

You can cut the shaft to remove it or leave it in place and cap the end.

My forwards came on my bike used. They just took the linkage off the old arm and pushed it back and up against the crankcase. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, you have to really look down there to see it. I've been told I would have to remove the primary cases to get it out and put a plug in it.
