Melted rubber on pipes

All of the above will work but After I clean them I usually touch the pipes with the boot again. So I just leave the mark and don't look too close. VegasRob
 
Protect the area around the pipe from overspray and spray on oven cleaner. Let it do it's job over night, and wipe off in the morning. This works for me, and will not scratch or haze the chrome.
 
I remove my marks on the pipes by using either HD cleaner or Pledge and scrap the area with the edge of a penny or nickel. Both of these metals are softer than chrome and will not scratch the chrome. You can also use a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil (which is also softer than the chrome). I use the HD cleaner or Pledge only to moisten the area, neither will remove the material on their own.

And no, using the nickel will not get it off five times faster than the penny!!!:D
