I had to take the gas tank off a few times today after doing some mods and noticed getting the front end down over the rubber cover was a major pain.
On my last attempt, I squirted a couple drops of silicone on the rubber and the tank slid right down and forward! Don't use much, though, or you will attract dirt and it will drip down on the heads and you have to clean it up.
