Loud noise from rear wheel area...

Discussion in 'Touring Models' started by wilkystreetglide, Mar 15, 2009.

When I let off the throttle I can hear a roaring sound that seems to be coming from the rear wheel or somewhere in the area. I have an 06 SG with 1400 mile on it. Is this characteristic or not?

Hard to see it from here but usually if they are loose, they will make noise.

  5. I meant, would it be loose or tight to make that noise? That is pretty funny though!

    No offence wilky....:D was a funny answer:bigsmiley20:
Play in the belt should be 5/16"-3/8" without anyone on the bike... 1/4"-5/16" with the rider on it.

Yeah, one other thing, if it was too loose and started slipping teeth, likely after inspection you will have missing teeth on the belt and evidence of shredding if it continued for any length of time. :(

  8. No offense taken! It really was funny! Thanks for the input guys. I can hear it over my radio going down the hwy when I let off the throttle
