Knocking at 500 miles

I am breaking in a new 80 Evo and have been babying it for about the first 200 miles. I changed over to AMSOL at 50 miles and other than that everything has been easy going. I decided to put about 300 miles on it yesterday and about half way through I noticed a strong knock happening. When I'm at 60 and let off the throttle it starts knocking loudly from the front of the bike. It also goes away when if I pull in the clutch. Once I got home I noticed it is also doing the same thing when I shift from 1st to 2nd and again from 2nd to 3rd. It never did this before yesterday.

I have heard that these motors tend to knock at around 55 at certain RPMS but since it never did it before Im nervous about it doing it now.

I would start with checking the compensator nut. They will give you a heck of a knock if they are a bit loose. If you haven't used a shim under the nut or cut the nut down .090 it may be a good time to do it now.
