New seal does'nt look like old one. I'm not sure which way to put it in. The new seal is what I'm going to call a double lip seal, its from james. I will try to explain- Does the protruding lip face the starter or towards the primary. Hope this makes a little sense. Thanks.

the protruding lip on any seal should face the side that holds the lubricant.

The open side of the seal faces the clutch, there is a service bulletin on this, # M-1161
