I just finished my first long ride!

Rode from Orlando, FL to Somerset, PA to take part in a 9-11 Memorial Ride. From there we went in an escorted "parade" to Arlington, VA and NYC, NY. We visited the Flt 93, Pentagon, and Ground Zero sites at each location. Upon completion of the formal ride I visited family in Westchester County, NY and returned to Florida. 3,177 miles in 10 days.

My 2007 Ultra Classic ran great, never missing a beat. It was a lot more comfortable than I had envisioned too, even though a lot of the ride was in the wet.

As a bonus we rode the whole Skyline Drive. I'm planning for another one now. Maybe to the Badlands and back?

Congrats on the ride. Always feels good to look back on the trips. For me, it's remembering the fun times and the feeling of accomplishment.

Awesome! We take as least one long ride a year and my friends do not believe us when we say the bike is comfortable for this. Must admit my wife and I have changed the original seat and I could ride coast to coast tomorrow if I had the time.

Betcha wish you still riding, huh? I dreamed about my first long trip for days...
It still makes me grin from ear to ear just thinking about it. Congrats on your ride!!! HARLEY: WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF.

I am fortunate enough to live 2 hours from the north end of Skyline drive. I had a meeting in Jax FL in May and ride down to it. On the way back I met up with my brother who was riding in from Indiana for Rolling Thunder. We met in Lexington, VA so we could ride about 150 mile of skyline drive. It was some of the best riding I have ever done. The only thing that topped it was the very place you have planned for your next long ride. I spent 5 days in the bad lands in 07 and swear it has ruined me for any other bike week. We rode about 200 miles a day and never went to the same place twice. I even made a 50 mile ride on a gravel road on my 9 month old bike. Something I never thought I'd ever do. I have to admit it was some of the nicest country I have ever seen.

Have a safe ride and enjoy the journey.

That was a long ride! Reading your post about the 9-11 ride gave me goose bumps. Supporting America in our Quest for new roads to uncover is the best of the best. Ride on America!
