Hypoid gear oil

I have a 2011 heritage classic and need a 1000 mile check up. I wanted to know if it's OK to use Bel-Ray Gear Saver HYPOID Gear oil 85w/140 for the Traney or should I use V Twin 85w/140 is there a difference ????:D

Our tranny uses both spur and helical cut gears, not hypoid (a special type of helical gear) cut gear. A hypoid gear has a sliding effect when used (almost like a worm gear) and therefore requires special lube.

If the dealer is doing the 1k check then I'd just follow with what they recommend. Less waranty issues that way.

The tranny doesn't have any hypoid gears like a rear end so doesn't really need that type of oil.
