Hogtunes install and...

So this winter with some downtime I installed the hog tunes speakers and amp and it is as advertised....great. The problem is that I have fouled the two last holes putting in my last two bolts for the fairing by the forks. I thought I had the right angle and the soft inserts allow me to thread half of the bolt on before seizing. So my question is ...can I simply get two shorter bolts and use washers and loctite or....? The other 5 are all secure so I thought maybe I could rig it like this. Thanks in advance for your insight.

I just did the same thing last week on the same insert next to the fork leg.
I took the fairing back off and ran a 1/4"x20 tap into the insert. The taper of the tap goes beyond the boogered thread, and allowed the threads to be recut. If that doesn't work for you there's replacement inserts available from
HD #58031-80, but then you have to figure out how to pull the existing insert out without hurting the mounting boss. Short and easy fix, yes you can use a shorter 1/4x20 screw, washer, and locktite,,,for now.
