As a new (used bike) Harley owner i was wondering if it is worth while to join HOG. if you guys could tell us your good and bad experiences it would be appreciated... I realise that pushing a bike when it breaks down is a little difficult and the tow to the nearest HD shop may be worth the price right there but..... thanks in advance

If your local dealer has a web site, many have a section labeled "Events" or show a monthly calender. vUsualy these will list the time and place of the monthly chapter meeting.

I also recently joined a local chapter. Joining the HOG group doesn't require a chapter membership. I would say the benefits are worth the price of membership. On a personal note, I joined a chapter that is quite a ways from where I live. I joined this chapter because they do a LOT of stuff. Something almost every weekend. So even though its about 80 miles from home I can participate whenever I want to. Visit a couple of different ones before you commit to a local chapter. The local chapters are sponsored by bigger HD dealerships. Go to the HD website and click on the HOG link it'll find you the ones local to you.

Parts discount is worth the membership. We have met some pretty decent people and made several new friends but for the most part the Chapter I joined is all older folks & I am 52 y/o...

It's a personal thing. If you like group activities with an organization and bylaws and rules HOG is a good thing. If you are a lone wolf and do not like that sort of stuff don't bother.

I joined at first to see what it's about. The local HOG chapter I belong to has rides scheduled almost every weekend. Cool thing about that is you just get in line, make sure you don't run into the guy in front of you and just ride. It's a ton of fun especially if you're new to riding. The folks are all nice and willing to share their experience. You get to see a lot of different bikes. We also have a really safe group so that helps. I've been to some really cool spots on many different routes that I probably wouldn't have tried by myself. Then when we get to the appointed spot, we have a great lunch at a restaurant. I like it so far.
