Help with no tach & engine light

Does anyone happen to know whether this tach works with a pulsating signal like all the older ones or does the ECM send a variable amount of voltage to show the RPM's?

Hall effect 3 wire sensor in transmission. See attachment. Reference voltage,,ground,,& signal output. Not sure but probably reference is +5 volts.
Jack bike up and measure signal output of sensor while you rotate rear wheel.
Voltage should toggle between reference and near ground.

Late models don't use a cam sensor but I wish they did. Injector and spark phasing is done differently on late model bikes.
Thanks. I was pretty sure I did not see one in there when I was in the nose cone, checking my tensioner condition. I was thinking along the lines of the teeth picked up by the crank position sensor...

Enjoy,
