It was with mixed emotions that I watched my trusty Kawasaki Voyager ride off to Kansas City in the back of a trailer a month ago.
I traded her for a 2013 HD 110th Anniversary Electra Glide Ultra Limited.
I got 9700 great miles out of her in just 10 short months, but my eye kept wandering to the Victory XCT and the HD FLHTK. I rode both several times and while each had it's advantages, the look and feel of the 110th Anniversary HD won me over. I actually had no intention of buying the day I drove it home. Went into Rawhide HD in Olathe, KS just to pick up a poker chip for a friend of mine to add to his collection while I was in town for work.
As soon as I saw the anniversary model sitting on the floor I knew I was in trouble because I've had my eye on it since they rolled out. They are getting few and far between now. It was the last day of the month and the dealership was trying to reach 200 units sold in July and they were six shy of that mark.
They ended up selling me the HD for $1200 under retail and gave me $15,500 for my Voyager. I only paid $15,900 for it new! It was a deal I couldn't resist.
I'll miss my Magilla, but I'll always have fond memories of all the miles we traveled.
I'm looking forward to putting many miles on my new FLHTK and I'm proud to own my first Harley Davidson!
