Heat Deflectors w/ Duals on Softail

I recently installed Samson Duals on my "06 Softail Deluxe. With summer coming on, I'm afraid that there will likely be a "Fried Thigh" problem now on the left side to match that of the Oil tank frying my thigh on the right side.

Anybody got any experience with Heat Deflectors that might address both sides and all three heat sources (rear cylinder, exhaust crossover, & oil tank)?

Thanks, D

+1 - Had them my 08 Heritage with V&H True Duals and made a huge difference. Excellent product from an excellent company.

Thank you for your comment TripleJ.
For other onlookers. Here's a couple pictures on softails.

Also if the right vinyl can be obtained. We can do custom covered deflectors to match custom work you may have had done to your scoot.

The custom covered deflectors above. The owner had the brown vinyl. The heat deflector's edging which is a black rubber "U" channel was painted by me with a flexible acrylic paint to match the edging or better known as the piping that encompasses the rest of this customers hand crafted work.

Zoood - appreciate the pics . I researched those products before posting my question as I was looking for real life experience from those that may have purchased various products.

Since the exhaust header is fairly low on the right side, much (if not all) of that heat is from the Oil tank and Rear Cylinder which the shield take care of. On the left side the cross-over pipe (which is quite high) is outside the "Distributor" and it looks like the shield would be inside that pipe addressing the Rear Cylinder but channeling the heat form the Exhaust up.

Do you have any pictures of these installed on a Softail with Duals?

Good feedback so far. Thanks, D

Here's some pictures of the true duals on an 05 heritage.

Without the true duals on there. The heat that divides at the oil tank. That comes to the left side. Channels through the opening between the oil tank and the rear of the coil cover. With true duals on. You have double heat coming through that space. The pipe carries heat as well. But its that space with the pipe added that makes it unbearable. The deflectors deflect the heat down, not up at you. Yes the pipe does transfer heat as well. But nothing like whats coming through that opening. That pipe is on the outside and air circulation when moving expels it towards the rear. It's when your setting at the light or stuck in traffic. That you can feel what heat that comes off that pipe. But the major heat, the searing heat that bubbles your flesh. The deflector design provides a barrier between you and that heat. The best way one can tell the difference is to install the deflectors and run it through stop and go and then remove the deflectors and you will undoubtedly notice a major difference.

I dont off hand have true dual pictures on the newer softails. Though I do make it a habit to ask any customer to supply me with pictures of their install. The draw back is,... when the heat problem is solved. They forget to send me pictures. They forget all about it. Which is good in one sense, but leaves me without pictures. Hope this helped you.
