I would suggest Savannah, Ga.

The weather is great most of the year.

There is no open container law when you are "down town"

They love bikers there

The wife and I just loved the old houses there

There is a beach less than 10 miles away

There are plenty of motels and hotels to support everyones visit

They offer midnight ghost tours in the old buildings that just freaked me and the wife out.

You can even take your old lady on a horse and buggy ride.

The food is just the best.

There are lots of things for the family to do as well

I hope that helps everyone to decide that Savannah is a great place for a meeting.:mgun:mgun

Could we compile a head count from each state? That way we would know where the largest groups are located. It may help determine geographically where to start .

If Memphis is the choice it could be based about 30 miles south in Tunica.
maybe one of the casinos would give a discount on a block of rooms.

This would be the wife's choice if she would be allowed to go. Tunica is her place of tranquility and a place to give money away. I perfer to put mine into chrome.

That's what I was wondering right from the start. A moderator would probably have access to some sort of database sorter and be able to figure it out. However, the mods are plenty busy keeping this forum at the highest level of quality that brought us all here in the first place.

I've come to the conclusion, as someone already mentioned I think, that there's no way you'll make everyone happy. Any location would be a compromise.

I think the best strategy now would be for folks to diligently post events and rallies they plan on attending in the Road Trips section or the geographical sections, and then try to arrange an informal get together in conjunction with that event for those who can come. Might even arrange a time/place meet up and ride to it together. This keeps everything on a more local or regional level and still doesn't prevent someone who wants to ride a long ways if a certain event sounds attractive.

NEWHD74FAN....I'm in the Modesto area and Kettleman City on HI 5 seems to be in the middle of us. We could start there and at least have lunch. Ride to eat and eat to ride.:newsmile016:

I'm all for a western meeting in California but Kettleman City has to be one of the most desolate areas in the entire state. On the other hand, due west of Kettleman City is the central California coast with some of the best scenery and riding roads in the United States. Riders from Northern and Southern California, and from other states, could get to the central coast just as easy as they could get to Kettleman City. Just a thought.

Have to admit, I broke down near Kettleman City recently...it was in the heat of summer, but the good news is I found the problem and still enjoyed the trip. I also went to Yosemite last year. Also been to southern part of Angeles Forest, so I am starting to get familiar with SoCal.

My daughter lives in Sunnyvale and I hail from Petaluma so I really love most areas of California...plenty of places to see and plenty of Redwoods and waterfalls, wine tasting, cave splunking, white water rafting, and plenty of places to rent a bike if you don't bring your own. Nope, have no problem with 5 picks out of those GG & JB have discussed.

Now, how about a few more suggestions from the adjointing western states area: NV, UT, CO (have a sister living there) or OR & WA (have sister living there) , IH, MT or AZ (my older daughter living there) & NM...been to bits and pieces in a car, but on a bike would be a nice loop.

I have relatives in Washington and Oregon. I also have friends in Arizona and Colorado. Beautiful scenery in all 4 states along with Idaho, Montana and New Mexico. Any of them would be good with me.

NEWHD74FAN, maybe we should kick around some potential sites in the west and then put them up for a vote to see if we get any response.
