Harley Bashers and their motives

You don't approach a horse from the rear, a tiger from the front or a fool from any direction.
It's not what you ride it's that you ride!

Could not be said better! I am very new to the two wheel world (riding for 2 seasons) and just lucky enough to have had the $ to start off riding with a such a beautiful ride as a harley.

I do love my 2010 superglide. And lots of you will hammer me for this but HD is not the ONLY well built motorcycle out there. I love the rumble of the HD motor and it is awesome. However I have to say I test rode a 2011 triumph bonniville about a month ago and that is one sweet machine! Definately not even close to the same catagory as a harley superglide as it did not have anywhere near the torque and power but man.........does that bike sing through the corners! Like an extention of your own mind! No kidding.....you just think about cornering and that bike goes where you want it to go! If money were no object I would have one in my garage right beside my superglide and be proud to have it!

I look at it this way.......when you are a mechanic or a carpenter there is a different tool for every job........when riding on two wheels there is a different bike for every "mood". If I were hitting the mountain roads or banging through the boulivard hard and fast I would absolutely chose a bonny! But for highway cruising or kicking back on around town or the boulivard I'll take a super glide!

I don't judge any rider or bike they sit on..........they like what they like and I like what I like......and I'll ride with them any day!

I get some of the "Harley Bashing" by a few people at work also. I don't reply, but I think it's funny half of these dudes don't even ride. I love my bike. I like the idle and the low end torque for bashing around town. I like how it pulls like a mule at so low rpm. That's all that matters to me. When I'm bombing down some back roads with friends none of this stuff matters. BTW, last summer in Daytona I rode with my two brother in-laws. Me on my Dyna, one on a custom softail 18" apes all tatooed up, one on a little scooter lol. Who cares man we had a blast.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, you have the right to ignore it!

There are no bad bikes, just some are better than others. You don't need to justify owning a Harley. If you have to explain they won't understand.

I did a toy run this last weekend and just happened to pull up to the gas pump next to two of the mc cops that were going to escort us. Colorado Springs police used to ride Harleys, now they ride Hondas, so of course the Harley bashing started as soon as I shut off the engine. I had to hear how much easier to handle and maintain the Hondas are and when they are off duty, it's their Victory's that rule the road. I thought of a lot of things I wanted to say, but then I remembered this forum topic and simply said, "Funny thing, you two are escorting the Harley Toy Run. I haven't heard of a Honda or Victory toy run." 'Nuff said...

Bravo! There are also quick thinking Harley riders too LOL :a

Last weekend out for a ride with my buddy and his Kawasaki Nomad. We stopped at the local HD dealer and he started about how much better his bike is because of only cost 50% of a Harley. When were leaving the store, a group of Harley riders came back from a dealer run, and my buddy as he was getting on his bike he opened his saddle bag to pull his glasses out and this big burly Harley guy looked at him and said you opening up a oven door???? My buddies look was priceless :bigsmiley25:, to the point the Harley guy could have cared less I was even there. The Harley guy was having to much fun messing with my buddy. I was laughing under my breath and my buddy just kept rolling his eyes. The Harley guy was slick the way he was taunting my buddy.....
How ironic...

Tell your co-worker that this is not the 1970's and AMF doesn't own HD anymore.

What's wrong with AMF era bikes? Sounds like you could include yourself in the "haters" profile.:D

My take on all this.... I love 'em all. I'm an equal opportunity rider. If I own it fine, if I don't that's ok also. If I don't own it, how about lettting me give yours spin around the block? And while I am riding yours, how about you riding mine?

I have no time for people that run others bikes or there choice of bikes down. There's too much road to run and too many tracks to ride to waste my time on stuff like that. I'm actually surprised I bothered to comment on this thread. But the comment by Billua needed a quick response.:s

Man, this thread has a BUNCH of "banned" and "on vacation" folks in it.

I got back into riding on a Suzuki C50, 800 cc. After three months and 4000 miles, I traded it in on a Kawasaki Nomad, 1600 cc. After two and a half years and 18,000 miles, I traded it in on a 2011 Road King.

All three bikes were excellent machines and were fun to own and ride.
