I've read some posts about hard starts after the engine has reached it's operating temp because I was having the same issue with my ride, 2008 Street Glide with about 30,000 miles. The bike started just fine cold and when I started the hot engine, the starter engaged, then a big clunk, re-engaged, and then started. This is with a new battery and plugs. The local HD diagnosed a bad starter, replaced it, and it starts cold and hot just like it did 30,000 miles ago. The glide has slip ons and is flashed, no other mods.

Had the same problem with my 2010 Ultra. Put a SE compensator in, problem solved.

    Same here. Compensator noise.
    Replaced and noise went away.

Me too! SE compensator made several nagging issues go away.
