Hard Saddle bag wear plate.

How do I get the wear plate off of the lid of my saddlebags. These are the plates that are on the lid and seem to be like they are glued on as I don't see any rivets or anything. I am thinking heat gun or a razor knife. While I have your attention the latches on my saddlebags rattle a lot is there a way of tightening these or do I go buy new hardware.

The plates are glued on. Be careful if you use a heat gun. I hair dryer would be better.

As for the the rattle, make sure you hinge pin is all the way thru the hinge and the mounting screws are tight.

Also on the main hinge pin is a small coil spring and they are prone to break every 3 years or so. If yours are is/are broken, there might not be the usual tension on the hinge assembly and rattles may be the result.

Had same issue with rattle and sloppy feel of hinges. Fixed as per above; Replaced springs and now oiling spring (using dri slide) with the maintenance schedule. Also adjusted tabs as described by geezerglide57, post #8 of link:
