handle bar grips & touch up paint, advice needed.

hi, iv currently got some oxford heated handle bar grips on my sportster which i would like to remove due to too many wires & a big crome box in the middle of my handle bars, i was thinking of replacing them with the stock grips but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions which may be of interest to me without costing too much.
is the job of replacing them a job for the harley service department or is it simple enough for anyone with a moderate degree of motor cycle maintenance knowledge?

lastly some of the black powder coated paint has rubbed off the engine area where the heel of my boot has rubbed, how can i get this back looking new(ish) again?
