gear lube level

I have switched to Redline shockproof gear lube. Replacing a quart to the gearbox, the level does not come up to what the manual says that it should on the dip stick. Is this typical?

Quart is 32 oz and the dipstick IS your indicator. Keep in mind that too low a level and the lubricant does not get distributed properly, too high and problems with "frothing" will result. Fill to the proper level, (make sure you follow manual recommendation).

As Animal said above, you should check the tranny gear lube level with the fluid hot, and the bike level and upright in the riding position.

also have the dip stick sitting on top of the threads...
in other words dont screw the dip stick in to get measurement.
