gas smell

2005 road king, stage 1 kit, se slip ons, 95 in. cams 28000 miles, fuel injected
smell gas when walk in garage where bike is stored, gas smell when idle, people behind me smell raw gas out the exhaust
bike idles a little rough but runs good and no loss of power or fuel milage
any ideals where to start to find problem or is there even a problem

Do a compression check that will tell you if one of the cylinders or a valve is damaged allowing unburnt fuel past.Also check your oil and see if it has a gasoline smell to it

Leaky injector?

You may be fighting two problems, your 2005 RK has EFI meaning there is a fuel pump and corrugated fuel line hose that may rub, developing small pin hole leaks, spraying fuel and losing fuel line pressure (normally 50 psi)...may want to get the kit to remove console, gasket and fasteners witho-rings).

Then look into fueler or mixture issues.

Something is not right there. Get a good hi intensity light and look around for fuel dampness. Check the fuel cap seal, crossover line, quick disconnect hi-pressure line etc. You should not be smelling fuel raw.

thanks guys think I've found where the smell is coming from. Think its coming from fuel cap seems it has a bad o ring

I hope that is your problem, it would be the quickest and easiest one to fix.
A bad cap lets the fuel go out the overflow vent line, that would explain the smell.

if that doesn't fix it, check the tank vent line. On my 07 street bob the little hose split under the center console cover over the tank. smelled of raw fuel but could never see a leak until I took that apart.
