I would just hook the power to the radio or cigarette lighter or accessory circuit these units draw very little, however me personally I would never hook any accessories into a lighting circuit that is one of the last circuits I would want to trip for any reasons due to overloading or shorting. undoubtedly murphy's law says they only trip at night
