funny kinda squeal

Thought I'd ask you guys before I make a fool of myself.Friend of mine rides a sporty,and I've noticed recently when he pulls away or use's the engine to assist braking,theres a most peculiar squeal/scrapy kinda noise coming out of where the clutch lives.I'm not so stupid to know that it aint the kinda noise you should be hearing,but I would like to know what the problem might be,and how much damage(if any)is happening in there.He's just recently had a new belt put on,cause the old one snapped,maybe theres a clue there??

I would check into the trans sprocket to see if it is tight being he had the new belt put on. It could also be the belt itself causing the noise.

My buddy had this problem on his Dyna and it was the belt being too tight.

had this problem with grumpys dyna the belt was out of line and squeeled when we first bought it spaced out the rear pulley no squeel
but on a sportster if comming from area of clutch id pull the primary cover and start checking everything
